Wealthy Home Owners – What Types Of Security Methods Should You Use?

As wealthy home owners our desire for protecting our property continues to rise even though crime has broadly reduced over the past two decades across the western world. Gating our prize fortress, adding an intercom and CCTV surveillance are just some of the security options we prefer whilst increasing our protection with sophisticated alarm systems, entrusts that we will feel completely safe.

So as wealthy home owner's, what steps should you take to protect yourselves, your family and your property?

Keeping Wealthy Home Owners Safe!

  1. Do not receive packages to your property. This will prevent strangers turning up un-announced. Instead have them delivered to your office or the post office under a PO Box number.

  2. Only employ tradesman and groundsman from reputable companies who can sign a disclosure that all their staff are vetted to the highest standard.

  3. Don’t disclose too much about your life through social media and other sources.

  4. Use different routes to work – don’t travel the same way every day.

  5. Have an intercom system installed at your home so that you don’t need to answer the door and only meet by appointment.

Securing your premises with Mansion security or Stately Home security by SGS Systems is the ultimate property security method to ensuring that your property is safe. We use smoke security alarm detection which is installed in main footfall areas of the home such as landings, corridors and hallways. The effective smoke security system will trigger dense thick fog within seconds of intruder detection and as our most efficient method of security has been tried and tested within commercial premises for several years.

Together with our wired and wireless house burglar alarm systems which will interact with specific areas of a property and our CCTV monitoring systems to offer internal and external surveillance throughout property grounds and garages, our company ensures that your property is protected at all levels and throughout all areas.

Property Security Services for Autumn 2016

property-security-servicesProperty security services can sometimes be an agonising niggle for home owners, and so for this Autumn if you are considering on upgrading the way in which you protect your home, then we have some ideas to help you make an improvement.

Yes! It is official we have definitely reached the Autumn season for 2016. Within just a few weeks the temperature has dropped and the dark evenings have set in and we are all thinking about hibernating for the winter as we await the clock time change from British summer time to winter. However, as we embark on the seasonal change, have you considered if your property security and is your home secure enough?

Dark evenings give intruders a great opportunity to take advantage of reduced visibility. For these thieves, it is easy for them to hide behind bushes and fences where visibility is concealed because of the lack of day light. Everything is not lost though and with just a few simple changes, home owners can protect themselves, their families and their properties to create a more secure environment.

Here are a few tips to adjust into the Autumn season and improve your property security services:

  1. Lock your doors and windows early evening
  2.  Ask visitors to telephone you as they arrive so that you don’t have to answer the door to strangers
  3. Fit security lights above all doors so that your visibility is clearer
  4. Fit your front door with an eye viewer so that people are magnified and clearer to see outside
  5.  Fit your front door with a security chain which will only allow the door to open slightly at first
  6. Cut back high hedges and plants which can obstruct your view across door ways
  7. Store ladders away safely which could otherwise be used as an entry option to upstairs windows
  8. Don’t post on social media if you are going away on holiday

Property Security – how our living standards are evolving

property security mirrored gatesAs we live in an age where material things matter and as our standard of living continues to rise through our aspiration to own and enjoy greater luxury items, so too does our need for improved property security in order to protect our homes and prize possessions.

However, with all this commodity and technological gadgetry available the key aim in securing high profile clients is their privacy. Privacy is something which is seen to the elite as their greatest luxury and so this level of protection can only be bought as a premium.

In America, property security is essential.  The gated communities of Hollywood stars now live in an area known as ‘Hidden Hills’. You won’t find it on google street view. These “hidden” or “invisible communities” are often the most privileged of people who are seeking to protect their homes from unwanted intruders and attention.

Back in the UK, high profile individuals are also looking at alternative ways to stay secluded, out of the media frenzy and away from public view.

“There was a time when people really flaunted their wealth; now they don’t,” says David Forbes, head of private office at estate agent Savills who advises wealthy buyers. “People’s priorities over the years have shifted. Now right at the top of the list it’s security.”

Forbes goes onto say that unlike years gone by, in today’s age people don’t want to openly expose their wealth. They want to be “discreet” and not draw attention to their assets.

What does our future hold in property security?

Concealment is key! Architects are now looking at ways to design and create properties to be less visible in terms of their size and capacity, by experimenting with the way in which we live. Some homes are also being clad with mirrors to reflect surrounding landscapes in order to take away the attention of their size, whilst the current trend in London is to dig down underground. What might seem like quite a small standard property at street level, can actually have several floor layers below with a variety of entertainment & leisure room preferences – all of which are securely fitted out and have minimal entry options, which above ground level, unwanted intruders in the past could have taken advantage of in gaining access.

Are you are a home owner looking to secure or upgrade your property security? Operating across the UK, we offer a variety of home security options to suit your needs including our comprehensive Smoke Deterrent Technology, Wireless Burglar Alarms and CCTV Security. For further information and to discuss your requirements in complete confidence, please contact our SGS Systems property security team.

It’s Summer Time So Please Check Your Burglar Alarm Security!

Burglar Alarm Security & Going On HolidayBurglar alarm security is probably the last thing on your mind. The school summer holidays are here and what a great moment to relax and enjoy time with the family. It can also be a season for the warmer weather when we throw open our windows and doors and spend time outdoors, late into the evening or plan on having a holiday and leave our homes vacant for a week or two.

The unfortunate down side to our fun fulfilled enjoyment is that intruders are given a great opportunity! They can seize the moment just as we wind down and take advantage of our relaxed attitudes, inevitably allowing access into our homes.

Don’t be alarmed, there are preventative measures! By following a few simple steps in burglar alarm security you can secure your house and deter burglars from gaining entry.

Here is our Top 10 security recommendations:

  1. Close & lock all of your doors and windows before leaving the property, before going to bed and if you are sitting out in the garden.
  2. If you are going on holiday then ask a trustworthy neighbour to collect your post, as a full letterbox is a key giveaway that you are away from your home.
  3. Don’t leave curtains shut! Curtains closed during the daytime is a clear giveaway that you’re on holiday.
  4. Leave valuables in a secure place. Don’t leave tablets, computers, games consoles or smartphones in visible areas of windows and doors.
  5. Don’t leave keys near to doors, under mats or plant pots as these are all common locations known to burglars.
  6. Don’t tell everyone on social media that you are going on holiday. This gives the green light to potential intruders that you are away from your home.
  7. Remove ladders from the garden which could be used to assist in gaining access.
  8. Secure Garages & Sheds with locks to protect your belongings.
  9. Have a burglar alarm security fitted.  This is one of the most secure methods in deterring an intruder and giving you peace of mind that your home is safe whilst you are away from the property.
  10. Have your burglar alarm security serviced before you go on holiday. Ensuring that your burglar alarm security is in good working order will protect your home and prevent any unnecessary call outs.

If you would like further information on protecting your home, if you are interested in having a burglar security alarm installed or an existing system serviced, then please contact our SGS Systems security team today. Based on the size of your property and your level of usage, we offer a range of burglar security alarm products including external CCTV security and internal wired and wireless systems to suit your home security wolverhampton needs.

It’s been a family week at SGS Systems Ltd

This week has been an exciting week for the Gennard family as everyone has come together to work in the business. Whilst our Director Simon Gennard continues to lead his team in working on security projects all over the UK, his son Luke has joined him for the summer season to support the installations. Back at the office Director Sally Gennard, manages and supports the daily running of the business, whilst their youngest son Josh has embarked on his first week of work experience from Codsall High School, in Wolverhampton.

Josh say’s that he has had an enjoyable and exciting week here at SGS Systems, finding out about what the team get up to both in the office and out on site projects. His week has included looking at the day to day running of the business and way’s in which we could improve our coverage and communication on social media. Whilst out on site a trip to Swansea, Wales enabled him to assist in the maintenance and testing of our Smoke Security Products for well-known high street retail store clients. More locally Josh has visited home owners with our security engineers to look at keypad repairs and install bell boxes. Josh added that he has enjoyed been out on site the most and that it has been fun working with our individual security installers. Stable CCTV Security

Stable CCTV Security cover for horsesStable CCTV Security is essential to keeping your premises safe. The Equestrian industry is a lucrative business! Protecting your stable and tack room with Stable CCTV Security could be the best decision you make to not only protect your beloved horse or pony but also the expensive kit that you use to look after them.

Tack equipment, horse boxes and even feed do not come cheap.  Unfortunately items can be resold easily through the internet and even more worryingly horses can be sold at markets without a trace at worse even re-sold for their meat.  With this in mind it is imperative that owners look at ways in which to protect their property and their animal live stock.

Stables & farms can commonly seem open and easily accessible for this type of criminal activity to occur with intruders often gaining access without anyone knowing.

Stable CCTV Security, what can you do to protect your property & livery?

  • Eliminate vegetation around the buildings so that intruders have less places to hide by making fences visible
  • Install security lighting so that all areas of the farm can be clearly seen
  • Install Stable CCTV Security so that there is constant surveillance at the farm and so that intruders can be easily identified; key to prosecuting circumstances
  • Install security alarm systems around the premises to protect tack rooms and its contents
  • Put up signs to deter intruders which explain the security methods in which you operate
  • Microchip your Horses and Ponies so that they can be traced
  • Agree to cover ‘watch slots’ with fellow horse owners to keep an eye and monitor any unfamiliar people

If you are a farm owner who is looking to upgrade your security then you may like to consider our Stable CCTV security package in order to protect your livestock and equipment. Please contact our Stable CCTV Security team for more information and sign up for a FREE review of your farm premises.

Burglar Alarm Security – Protection for your holiday

SGS Systems Burglar Alarm Security Bell BoxThinking about having burglar alarm security installed, is not always a top priority for home owners when there so many other maintenance jobs that need attention.

In a recent report “Research finds many UK home owners not investing in the outside of their homes”, published in June 2016 by Propertywire.com highlighted that, “Many home owners also fail to ensure they have the right protection in place with only 38% of home owners confident that all the items in their outdoor space are insured while 24% revealed that they haven’t spent any money to keep their outside areas safe and secure, for example investing in locks, alarms or security lights.”
